ECTN Certificate: Documents and Application Support

ECTN is a cargo declaration and tracking procedure used for shipments to African destinations requiring an Electronic Cargo Tracking Note. Certificate names, application systems and deadlines depend on the destination country.

Why timely preparation matters

Missing certificates, late applications or inconsistent declarations may lead to customs delays, port waiting, penalties, storage and demurrage charges. Check the destination requirements before shipment.

Documents and shipment details

Prepare the bill of lading, commercial invoice, freight invoice where required, packing list, relevant customs documents and shipper and consignee details. Additional destination-specific documents or importer information may be requested. Use the country guide and portal checklist for your shipment.

Application process

  1. Prepare shipment information and documents.
  2. Rodosto checks document consistency and application details.
  3. Review the draft and report corrections.
  4. Complete the invoicing and payment stage.
  5. The application is submitted for the relevant authority’s assessment.
  6. Download the final certificate once approved.

Timing and approval

Processing time depends on complete documents, workload and authority assessment. Final approval rests with the relevant authority. Review the draft carefully and confirm whether the reference must appear on the bill of lading.
